The story of a Valley, a Family Business and a Commitment to Quality…
Whoever said “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” must have had Wesley Mason’s family in mind. Apple growing has been a part of the family tree since 1939.
Today, grandsons Stephen, Jimmy and Bryon Wells look back with pride at their grandfather’s accomplishment of laying down roots to one of the largest apple growing operations on Canada’s East Coast.
Now, with about 600 acres of their own added to the output of more than 20 local farms, they in turn see still greater opportunities, and are equally determined to make Mason’s select Valley apples available to more and more people.
By working together in the tradition of Nova Scotia families, and using the experience and knowledge only a lifetime involvement in the apple industry can bring, the Wells brothers have made Mason’s the pick of the crop. They have, without a doubt, become the “apple of their grandfather’s eye.”
In 2013 continuing its ongoing evolution, the business was purchased by local businessman Roy Haley. The company will continue to harvest and distribute a variety of quality apples including: Honeycrisp, McIntosh, Cortland, Gala, Golden Delicious, Rome, JerseyMac.
With the their combined experience in business and apple farming, along with its valued and dedicated staff, Mason Apples is looking forward to continuing a bright and productive future.
